You are here: Home > News > Grit in Stock FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Grit in StockHelping to get the community moving: as noted in this week's Forest & Wye Valley & Review and The Forester, Hale & Co have grit in stock now.14th
January 2010 Having sold out of snow scoops and done a roaring trade in spades and shovels, we have brought in 66 tonnes of road salt to help keep the Forest of Dean moving during the freezing weather. The delivery follows an announcement earlier this week that the county council would only grit after the government took control of salt supplies due to a national shortage. Transport and Sales Manager Martin Nealon said: "We have had to get salt in from up North and 23 tonnes is going straight back out to help schools, care homes and businesses stay open. As far as we know, we are the only ones in the area to get new supplies in". The grit is delivered in one tonne sacks, but Hale & Co are transferring it into smaller 25kg bags so that it can be sold domestically. We had to make "call after call" to obtain these stocks, but are pleased to be able to help keep our community moving and we are due for another delivery next week.
